A Trip to Europe (2012) is a group of works assembled from dozens of European landscapes. These paintings were made of an 8 mm film that my parents made while traveling through Europe in the 1970s. In this work I sampled landscape images, and the obscure, blue colors of the film and the changing scenery were used as a basis for the pointing. The tension between the classical and the personal- localized story also provided the foundation for the work. The perspective of a foreigner visiting a new land.
