Iris Cintra is a contemporary Israeli painter based in Haifa, born in Jerusalem (1975). She develops a poetic visual language that moves between figurative art and abstraction, exploring the relationship between the visible world and experiential memory. Her work is inspired by wandering through local landscapes, from the coastal reefs and Mountains of Haifa to the vast desert expanses of Judea and the Arava. In her paintings, Cintra captures the bright Israeli light and the geological character of the land. Her creative process, rooted in her studies at The Bezalel Academy (B.Arch.) and at the Haifa University (MFA).Her creative work begins with watercolor sketches made outdoors and continues with the development of large scale oil paintings in the studio. By using thin, transparent layers, she distills natural elements into soft color fields and abstract marks, creating a sense of quiet contemplation and turning the landscape into an elusive emotional experience. Her work has been showcased in various exhibitions at the Bible Lands Museum in Jerusalem, Haifa Museum of Art, and in international venues across London, Miami, and Los Angeles. Her art is held in collections such as the Discount Bank Collection, the Haifa University Collection, and the Schatz House Collection. |
